Wood is always unpredictable; every piece being different. Unlike other mediums where the artist decides what to use and how to create, the wood dictates much of what will be done and the artist is left to create within those boundaries. My personal challenge to make something unique and new – something that nobody else has made before – is wonderful and addictive.
Roger Meyer of rural Houston, MN is a retired building contractor who spent more than 40 years owning his own residential building and remodeling company. He has always enjoyed woodworking, forestry management and the greater outdoors. It is wonderful that Roger’s beautiful bowls and platters can be used for food service because of the FDA-approved, food-safe product he uses to finish them. His work, including turned bowls, platters and flower vases is currently available for sale at several regional art galleries or by appointment at his home.
