Kay M. Capps Cross, Artist Bio

Kay M. Capps Cross has been working with fiber her entire life. She began making her own clothes as a child (taught by her mother and grandmother) and transitioned to fiber sculpture in high school and quilting as a young mother. She began quilting with 4 small children and threads strewn all around the house!
Since then, she has traveled the country teaching and lecturing about her designs, techniques, and experiences. Along the way she has written 4 books featuring black and white quilts of various designs. Often teaching color, contrast, and movement in fabric selection, she also is known for her foundation-piecing techniques, wonky style, and long-arm quilting style. Another popular lecture is on her therapy quilts. Kay has had a one-person show of that journey and continues to document her life through quilting. A frank, open, and encouraging lecture accompanies the viewing of those works.
