Mary Forney, Artist Bio

Artist, Teacher, Maker

Join me. I am Mary Forney, a mixed media artist, teacher and maker inspired by the unique landscape in the Driftless Region of Wisconsin and Minnesota. Each season in the region displays unique topography and wildlife. In addition to landscapes, I am interested in studying nature. My recent work has been inspired by a fascination with patterns and close-up studies of microscopic images. These snapshots of nature are expressed in a variety of media, beginning with pastels and printmaking and the addition of collage elements and mixed media.

My love of art has also included a career teaching art to a variety of ages. I entered my teaching career with a B.S. in Art Education from Concordia College, Seward, NE. And later earned a M.A. in Studio Art from UWS Superior, WI. I am an active member of the artist’s community where I live in Winona, MN. I also exhibit my art in a co-op gallery in Alma, WI, Stumptown Gallery. Fine Art Giclee prints of my work can be purchased at an online collective Geo Galleries.
